Caution holds the key
8/12/2021 8:06:55 PM

Union Health Ministry has sounded an alert that next 100-days are crucial for the emergence of the 3rd wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
Experts are of the opinion that vaccination has played a crucial role in delaying the third wave. People need to follow the SOPs and adhere to the Covid Appropriate Behavior (CAB) to ensure that virus is not allowed to raise its ugly head again.
The Jammu and Kashmir administration is making all the preparations to fight the possible third wave and arrangements are being put in place to ensure that people don’t face any problems.
The new oxygen generation plants are being setup to ensure that patients don’t face any problems if the cases increase.
Experts are urging people to bear in mind that the COVID-19 has not ended and following the CAB holds the key.
It has been almost 2-years since the day pandemic has hit the country. During these years many people have lost their lives and many have lost their livelihoods as the pandemic has hit everyone hard.
When the second wave hit Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha led from the front and kept the entire administration on toes. He announced setting up of 5-bedded Covid care centers in the rural areas and made it a point to equip the tertiary care hospitals with all the facilities.
LG Sinha passed repeated instructions to the health and medical education department to ensure that vaccination drive is carried out at a fast pace so that a process is initiated to develop herd immunity. At present J&K is not recording many COVID-19 cases, the number has declined. Despite that authorities are keeping their fingers crossed, and are remaining prepared to handle the crisis that could emerge in coming days.
People should realize that the ones who have not taken the first dose of vaccine must get inoculated while those who have taken the first dose and completed their interval period should get the second dose to get the benefit of vaccination.
Also, Standard Operating Procedures need to be followed properly and other guidelines issued by the government should be followed in letter and spirit including avoidance of outside gatherings and crowding.
Till the third wave threat is over more than 25 people should not assemble at a single place as it poses threat of spread of the infectious disease. Wearing masks, using hand sanitizers and getting vaccinated are must to keep the virus at bay.
