GDC Basohli conducts Swachhta Abhiyan

BASOHLI, Aug 12: The NSS and NCC units of Government Degree College, Basohli conducted a Swachhta Abhiyan programme in the college campus.
The programme was conducted under the patronage of Dr. Nidhi Kotwal, Principal GDC, Basohli and supervised by Dr. Papinder Kumar, ANO, NCC wing and Dr. Shiv Kumar, NSS, Programme officer. While speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kotwal said that education and awareness on cleanliness is more relevant in prevailing Pandemic-COVID 19, where hand hygiene and other cleanliness measures are basic and only tool at present to fight this infectious disease.
She also appealed the students to keep the college and surroundings neat and clean. Dr. Shiv Kumar enlightened the students and talked about the adverse effects of single use of plastics and appealed the students to use it minimally. Dr. Papinder Kumar also advised the students to use organic wastes for the preparation of manure so as to effectively implement waste to wealth approach. A pledge was taken by the students and the staff to inculcate a sense of commitment and bring about a behaviour change regarding cleanliness, sanitation practices and hygiene for the betterment of the community and Nation. Later, a cleanliness drive was conducted in the college campus in various departments, class rooms and playgrounds.
