GDC Khour organizes plantation drive

JAMMU, Aug 12: A two day plantation drive was organized in GDC Khour in collaboration with Department of Social Forestry under the auspices of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav to celebrate 75 Years of Independence.
The drive was inaugurated by Suraj Singh, DDC Vice Chairman by planting a tree sapling in presence of Prof. Hans Raj Principal of the College, Balbir Singh, BDC member, Neeraj Choudhary, Range Officer and Pawan Salaria Treasury Officer Khour. NCC cadets and NSS volunteers alongwith staff of the College and staff of Department of Social Forestry actively participated in the plantation drive. The motive of the drive was to create awareness among the masses about the importance of trees in enriching environment and to conserve the ecosystem.
About 125 saplings of various plants were planted during the drive including ornamental plants such as Panj Tara, China Rose, Satpatra, Raat ki rani etc. and medicinal plants such as Amla, Neem, Reed, Beda etc. The whole event was organized by Prof. Arun Sharma (ANO) and Prof. Gurvinder Kour (NSS PO) under the guidance of Principal of the College.
