GDC Sidhra organizes declamation contest

JAMMU, Aug 12: Road Safety club of Govt. Degree college, Sidhra organized a declamation contest on the theme "Streets For Life" to commemorate 75th Independence Day, under the aegis of " Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav" under the patronage of worthy Principal, Dr Monika Sharma.
A number of students from the college participated in this contest. The participants were judged by Prof. Shonima Malhotra , Assistant Professor in Sociology and Dr. Anshu Gupta, Assistant Professor in EVS. The result of which was declared on August 12, 2021 and the Karsoom Akhtar was adjudged first. Whereas the second position was shared by Najeeb ul Rehman and Pallavi Devi of B.A Sem II. Third position was shared by Abid Sultan Wani and Anamika Verma of B.A Sem-II.
In the contest, students emphasized the need of taking up of teaching road safety rules and best practices in schools and colleges. People safety on the road is one of the most important aspects in order to avoid road accidents, injury and deaths, weather it is in form of a vehicle or a pedestrian.
Principal, Dr. Monika Sharma congratulated the student participants and stressed the need of organizing more such activities so that students be made more aware of the road safety rules, in order to become good citizens. The event was organized by Prof Harpreet Kaur, convenor, Road Safety club , while it was co-ordinated by Dr Mehmmod Ahmed and Prof Mussarat Chowdhary. Prof Poonam Rani and Prof Satbir kour, members of the Road Safety Club also played a vital role in the contest.
