NSS unit of GDC Majalta organizes plantation drive

UDHAMPUR, Aug 13: As per the directions of Higher Education Department the Govt Degree College (GDC) Majalta NSS unit of the college under the patronage of the Principal Dr Bharat Bhushan Anand organized a plantation drive under week long activities programme chalked out by the college to mark the 75th year of India’s independence celebration programme Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav.
The faculty members and students of NSS unit participated in the event enthusiastically and voluntarily.
All the participants along with the worthy Principal of the college planted one hundred plants which included fifty medicinal and fifty fruit bearing plants around the vicinity of the college which beautified the surroundings of the college.
On this occasion the honorable principal stressed on the need of such activities because this will lead to protection of environment and afforestation, it will be helpful in developing aesthetic sense and love towards mother earth among the young generation who are detached from nature due to excessive concretization of every region everywhere around them.
Further the NSS coordinator of the college Dr Suresh Sharma focused on the importance of sustainable development, the involvement of youth is important in protecting the environment if the nation wants to preserve and reduce the depletion of natural resources of the country and reduce the carbon footprint of the country.
He also said that India is one among the top five countries in the world in terms of use of renewable energy, he further stated that economic development is meaningless without development of ecology as survival of human race is dependent on its environment.
