JAMMU, Aug 13: The Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu today organized a colorful Run/Walk for the students and staff members of the university within the University Campus to celebrate “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav” to commemorate 75 years of Independence Day.
The Run/Walk commenced from University Residential area entrance gate and culminated at the University Fountain Plaza after taking a complete round of University Campus by the students and staff while singing Patriotic songs and dancing on drums. Prof Manoj K Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu flagged off the Run/Walk in the presence of Prof Prakash C Anthal (DSW), Dr Daud Iqbal Baba (Director Sports & Physical Education), Prof Rampal, Prof Raina, Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Prof Piyush Malvia and Staff of the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu. Prof Dhar while addressing on the occasion said that “On this special day here’s wishing our dreams of a new tomorrow come true. May your Independence Day be filled with patriotic spirit. We should not let anything divide the idea of India.” Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba in his address said that “We should not let anything divide the idea of India. Our freedom fighters endured countless sufferings to give Indians their freedom. It is a day to remember and honour the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation.”
The proceeding of the function was conducted by Dr Komal Wazir, Assistant Director Sports & Physical Education.
