DSEJ reviews progress on Counselling Initiatives | | | EARly Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 18: Director School Education Jammu, Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma today reviewed progress of counselling initiatives undertaken by DSEJ Counselling Cell along with district and school counselling cells. All District Nodal Officers (DNO), District Counselling Coordinators (DCC), faculty members and team counselling cell attended the virtual meet. He appreciated the efforts of all the stakeholders to create a successful teacher-counsellor model for government schools. He gave instructions to all the stakeholders regarding strengthening and expediting counselling initiatives in the government schools of Jammu Division in order to lessen the adverse impact of COVID on children. Various ideas and suggestions were put forward by DNOs, DCCs and others for strengthening counselling services for school children during this virtual consultation session. Specific instructions were given to all the stakeholders by Director School Education Jammu, for providing career counselling through career portal 'Manzilein', including providing mental health and psycho-social support in accordance with the guidelines of 'Manodarpan' - an initiative of Ministry of Education, disseminating the real purpose of Aao Baat Karein helpline '6006800068', regular monthly reporting through Google forms, timely implementation of counselling calendar of DSEJ, projection of counselling needs from the fields and implementation of counselling calendar in each school. Romesh Kumar, Incharge Counselling Cell DSEJ underlined the importance of counselling initiatives in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic. He expressed the pressing need of mental health and psycho-social support in the light of sufferings which students have encountered due to the closing of schools. All the team members of Counselling Cell, DSEJ were present in the meeting.
