The Billawar Zila Andolan is in struggle for creation of this district with headquarter in Billawar for the past over twenty years. The government created districts at smaller places in Kashmir but ignored very genuine claim of this area. This is great discrimination, added Jalmeria. He also expressed concern over the bad condition of roads in the hilly areas like Billawar-Macchedi-Badnota-Lohai-Sadrota road, Billawar-Katli-Marhoon-Malhar road, Mandli-Kohag-Kurhetar road, Kohag-Dhanno Parole road. He demanded early connectivity of Billawar-Dhaggar through road by constructing tunnel at Dehri Gala. Jalmeria also asked the Govt. to immediately repair the Durang-Dangara and Seri-Mooni canals. Dr. Ghanisham Singh Charak said that the Govt is pursuing anti-farmers policies to promote the interests of Big Capital houses. The Govt is not even purchasing wheat from farmers are the minimum prices fixed by it. The farmers are left to be exploited in the hand of private business houses. |
