Act to stop killings
8/18/2021 11:06:39 PM
Selective killings of political workers in Jammu and Kashmir, especially the ones associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have created a sense of insecurity among the political activists of all the parties.
Militants sponsored by Pakistan are choosing their targets and hitting them at their will. It’s clear that the terrorists want to kill everyone, who raises his voice against them and sides with the nationalist cause.
History stands testimony to the fact that when armed militants appeared in the streets of Kashmir in 1990, the first thing they did was they started killing the nationalist people in the Valley. Militants carried out selective killings of Kashmiri Pandits which led to the mass exodus of the entire KP community from the Valley.
Political workers who were affiliated with mainstream political parties also fell prey to their bullets. The trend continues even today. Three decades have passed but the militants continue to target the people who hold tricolor close to their heart.
More than twenty BJP activists and leaders have been killed across Jammu and Kashmir during the past two years. Some have been killed due to security lapses while many have been assassinated due to them having no security cover.
The authorities in Jammu and Kashmir keep on claiming that the situation is becoming normal and militants are on the run but the facts contradict these assertions. Not many things have changed. Militants are striking at their will and are succeeding in terrorizing a common man.
The helmsmen need to show some concern towards the nationalist people in Jammu and Kashmir. These people are holding tricolor close to their heart despite all the odds and threats. They need to be provided with adequate security. Operations to eliminate the militants need to be intensified. The nationalist people cannot be allowed to turn into sitting ducks.
During the past two months attacks on the BJP leaders have increased. Ones who are living in secure zones are safe but once they come out they become the soft targets.
It is clear that people sitting across the Line of Control want to keep Kashmir burning and to do so they can go to any extent. This needs to be checked and prevented and measures have to be put in place to ensure that no more killings take place in future.
