JAMMU, Aug 22: The Art of Living J&K chapter successfully conducted a ten-day plantation drive, wherein more than 1000 trees were planted in and around Jammu city. The plantation drive which started on 8th August for 10 days till 17th August, began from Ved Mandir Ambphalla and covered all major areas of the city, including Gajansoo Marh, Pata Bohri, Roopnagar, Channi Himmat, Gandhi Nagar and Sarwal along with districts of Samba (Sarore) and Kathua (Basohli). The enthusiastic volunteer team included Ritvik Mahajan, Akshita Sharma, Sunny Sharma, Dr. Kanika Sharma, Dr. Aashima Singh, Ranjoy, Vikhyat Vaid, and Dr. Aayushi. The drive was supported by the Department of Social Forestry, Govt. School authorities, NGOs, and bloggers from Jammu and Kashmir. Mostly medicinal and herbal plants such as Beda, Amla, Jamun, Chinar, Alstonia, Sukh Chain, Chinar were planted across Jammu city during the ten days of the plantation drive. Ajay Kapoor, state coordinator –Bureau of communications, DDC & Projects (VVKI) elaborated that the plantation drive focused on creating a greener Jammu city and a sustainable future for the coming generation. A careful assessment of the areas requiring green cover was carried to make the initiative a success at the ground level, furthermore The Art of Living organization has worked globally towards many environmental situations and natural calamities, he added. |
