Human face of Indian Army
9/1/2021 11:16:25 PM
General Officer Commanding of Srinagar based Chinar Corps, Lieutenant General D P Pandey recently interacted with the families of active militants in South Kashmir and urged them to persuade their kin to shun violence and join the mainstream.
“If you fear that terrorists would kill him, you don’t need to announce… you can go to any army camp or approach police, whosoever you trust, we will quietly take them out of the system for some years, they will be under your watch and knowledge, and after a few years, they will be back as a member of the society. There is no incentive in losing your children, we all have children,” Lt Gen Pandey told the family members of militants.
The Army Commander by meeting the family members of the active militants has once again shown the humane face of the Indian Army and has proven it beyond doubt that the Army has a large heart and can even forgive the militants who wait for a chance to attack them.
After J&K’s transition into a Union Territory, security agencies have been trying their best to make the militants surrender and are providing them with a chance to choose life over death.
Security forces have succeeded in eliminating the militancy from J&K to a great extent by eliminating the foreign militants and the indoctrinated local self-styled commanders, who used to lure local youth towards joining militant ranks.
GOC Pandey extending an olive branch to local militants is a golden opportunity for the misguided youth to return to the national mainstream and resume their normal lives. If they don’t listen, they will end up losing their lives as the shelf life of a militant is just a few months. The militants cannot match the skills, training and strength of the jawans. Whenever they come face to face with the security forces they end up dying within a few hours.
People of Kashmir too have realized that guns are no solution and Pakistan has used them as cannon fodder to fight its own war.
On ground militants are also losing the support of people as the common masses have sent a clear message that they want to live peacefully and are not interested in violence and bloodshed. Pakistan has lost the proxy war and is not in a position to fight a conventional war. Misguided youth need to understand this fact and return rather than getting killed.
