No major change as weather remains pleasant in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Sept 2: There was no major change as weather remained pleasant in the Kashmir valley, where minimum temperature was below normal while the maximum was near normal. However, the day temperature of world famous ski resort of Gulmarg was not available due to suspension of internet and mobile service as a precautionary measure following death of separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani last night. A Met department spokesman said this evening that weather will remain in the Kashmir valley and Jammu division during the next 24 hours. There will be no large change during the subsequent two days, he added. Srinagar witnessed surge in the maximum temperature on Thursday. Against yesterdays 29 degree maximum temperature it was 29.9 degree today, which was 0.8 degree above normal. The minimum temperature however, remained below normal and settled at 14.6 degree, which was 1.1 degree below normal. There could be mainly clear to partly cloudy sky and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 29 degree and 14 degree respectively during the next 24 hours in Srinagar, spokesman said. Gulmarg, the world famous ski resort in north Kashmir, the minimum temperature was 9 degree, 1.7 degree below normal. However, the maximum temperature was not available, he said, The famed health resort of Pahalgam, about 100 km from here in south Kashmir there was a surge of about two degrees in the maximum temperature. Against yesterdays 24.5 degree, it was 26.1 degree, 0.8 degree above normal. The minimum temperature remained below normal, he said adding it was 7.9 degree which was 3.1 degree below normal, lowest in the valley. Similarly the maximum temperature remained above normal while the minimum below normal at Qazigund, Kupwara and Kokernag. |
