Broken flowers pots, long grass welcome visitors

Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 4: The Floriculture Department seems to be non serious towards maintenance of its parks even in the posh area of Gandhi Nagar, which has been seeking attention of the department where broken flower pots, long grass welcome the visitors.
Department has always remained under strong criticism for not maintaining public parks properly and regularly. This park in Green Belt of Gandhi Nagar has been attracting attention of the public especially the local residents, who regularly visit it for walking and enjoy the ambience of the park but non maintenance of the same has been deteriorating its condition.
“Flower pots can be seen broken, dry leaves have spread all over the park and the grass have been growing with each passing day but the same has not been trimmed, this shows the non seriousness of the Floriculture Department, which has turned its deaf ears.
Even the heaps of garbage also remain unattended in the park,” said a local resident.
The boundary wall of the park is lying broken at many points, which has not been repaired till date. Many trees inside the park are waiting for trimming. The pathways in the park are covered with growing grass, making it difficult for the people to walk in the park.
Although an open gym has also been set up in the park, the condition of these equipment speaks volumes of the ill functioning of the department. If the condition of Public Park in the Green Belt area cannot be maintained by the Floriculture Department then what would be the fate of other parks in the city.
