Kathua Police solves theft case, 3 held

KATHUA, Sept 13: Kathua Police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua has solved a theft case by arresting 3 thieves and recovering one van along with cash amount of Rs 125000 from them.
According to police reports on August 6, 2021 a case was registered at PS Kathua in connection with theft vide FIR No. 366/2021 U/S 457/380/34 IPC in which cash amounting to Rs 3,50,000 was stolen from Rakh Lachhipur.
Acting on the case, police party of PS Kathua led by SHO PS Kathua Insp Om Prakash Chib arrested three suspected thieves who were evading their arrest.
During sustained questioning all of the accused confessed their involvement and on their disclosure one van bearing Reg. No. JK21B-1785 which they have bought from stolen cash of Rs 1,85,000 from one person namely Harman Car Bazaar Sainik Colony Jammu was recovered along with cash amounting to Rs 125000.
The three accused have been identified as Mohd Rafiq S/o Mohd Iqbal, Mehboob Akhtar S/o Shams Din and Irshad Ahmed S/o Suleman all residents of Dodla Tehsil Basohli District Kathua.
Police officials said that further investigation of the case is going on and involvement of arrested persons in other case cannot be ruled out.
