KVK Samba organizes one day in service-training programme for agriculture officers | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 13: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Samba under the aegis of Directorate of Extension, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Jammu organized one day in-service Training programme on “Watershed Development, Rainwater Harvesting and Enhancing water productivity”. The programme was conducted for field functionaries, under the direct supervision of Dr. S.K. Gupta Director Extension SKUAST-Jammu. The programme was started with the introduction of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Samba by Dr. Vinod Gupta, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, Samba. He welcomed all participants and discussed about the mandates and functions of KVK. He stressed upon the need for adoption of Resource conservation technologies for sustainable agriculture. He also discussed about importance of water shed development, percolation tank and soil and water conservation. Dr.Abhay Kumar Sinha, the training coordinator of the programme laid stress on watershed development, rain water harvesting and enhancing water productivity. He discussed in detail about main purpose of water shed, its management and functions of water shed. He also discussed about Rain water harvesting and water shed management help in water conservation. He explained about crop water productivity and water use efficiency. He said about different methods of soil and water conservation and its importance. |
