9/14/2021 10:50:14 PM

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Sept 14: Kashmiri Pandits across the globe observed the Balidaan Diwas in honour of those who laid down their lives. While remembering the martyrdom of TikLal Tiploo and others, President Panun Kashmir Vijay Bhat addressed members through virtual mode and said that the best way of paying tributes to our martyrs is to keep younger generations aware of the happenings of 1989 and 1990 alive and keep their wounds fresh and green.
Ravinder Jalali Convener said on this day we are reminded of the happenings and circumstances of our community in 1989 and 1990 that led to our forced exodus from our home and hearths. In 1989 on September 14th Pandit Tika Lal Taploo, a prominent lawyer and a social activist was gunned down by terrorist outside his own home in Srinagar. He was the first victim of the militancy in the Valley which was followed by the barbaric killing of many more Pandits.
Rajinder Raina, Vice President in his address appealed Lt. Governor to appoint a commission of enquiry to investigate the circumstances leading to the ethnic cleansing of miniscule minority of Kashmiri Pandits from their herd and hearths and bring them to justices who were responsible for their ethnic cleansing.
