BJP gears up for assembly polls in J&K
Party leadership wants to take advantage of ‘weak’ Congress in UT

Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 16: Notwithstanding conflicting reports about the timing of the next assembly polls in J&K, BJP high-command has reported directed its J&K unit to ready for elections in the Union Territory (UT).
Highly placed sources said that it was all due to clear signal from the high-command that the J&K unit has started aggressive campaigning for the poll. “On the one hand J&K unit president Ravinder Raina is conducting a tour of all assembly segments of Jammu province, all district presidents of Jammu province have been geared for elections”, highly placed sources said and added that district committees were directed to prepare panels of potential candidates for the assembly constituencies in their respective districts.
“All district units are busy in preparing panels of potential and winnable candidates in their respective districts”, sources said and added that BJP leadership is confident of winning maximum seats from Jammu province.
Sources said that BJP leadership is very much aware that the position of Congress-which is the party’s arch-rival in Jammu, is going from bad to worse so it is high time to go for polls to take advantage of the favourable political conditions. “Due to intense infighting and demoralized cadre Congress is not in a position to give fight to strong BJP at this point of time so party leadership is thinking seriously go for polls to avail benefits of rival’s weakness”, sources said.
In the 2014 assembly elections BJP had created history by winning 25 seats from Jammu province. “This time party is hopeful to increase its tally”, sources said.
Meanwhile, Ravinder Raina, president J&K BJP, asked the party workers from Kishtwar to get ready for assembly polls.
Ravinder Raina, while addressing the Sammelan, asked the party workers to work hard and get themselves ready for more targeted work in order to get the desired results in the upcoming Assembly polls in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
