Mayor kick starts development works in Bahu Fort area | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sep 18: Continuing his endeavour to provide best possible civic and development amenities to the general public, Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor, JMC along with Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member Parliament Jammu today laid foundation stone of prestigious project in Bahu Lochan Chowk (Bahu Fort area) of Ward No 47 in terms of pollution abatement of River Tawi of five number of nallahas falling in it on the left side. Kavinder Gupta, former Deputy Chief Minister, Advocate Purnima Sharma Deputy Mayor, JMC, Madam Sharda Kumari Councillor of Ward No 47, Vinay Gupta Distt President Jammu, Neeraj Puri Gandhi Nagar Mandal President who is also Councillor of Ward No 54 and other prominent inhabitants of Bahu Fort and its surrounding localities as well as Rakesh Gupta, Superintending Engineer (UEED), Shiv Kumar Gupta Executive Engineer(UEED), Rajesh Sharma Assistant Executive Engineer (UEED), Bajaj Junior Engineer and other Supervisory staff of UEED also remained present there during the function. Speaking on the occasion, Mayor said that it is a very prestigious project which has been undertaken by the UEED, Sewerage & Drainage Deptt. of Jammu Municipal Corporation under AMRUT Scheme and major & concrete steps will be taken to save Suraj Putri River Tawi from further pollution by the dirty water of five nallahas. Besides this, Mayor told that Sewage Treatment Plant having 4 MLD capacity is going to be completed shortly which is also one of the vital component of this project and population of about 40000 souls covering the area of Narwal Bala, Rajiv Nagar, Sabzi Mandi Narwal, Bahu Gorkha Nagar, Rajiv Basti Kalka Colony, Sheikh Nagar Bikram Chowk etc will benefitted where sewer lines are proposed to be laid down & about 5000 House connections of kitchen waste water, Bath Room waste water, Toilet waste water with proposed Sewer lines will be connected under this project. He told that this whole project will be completed within the two years time period with an estimate cost of Rs 51.67 crore and an amount of Rs 16.49 Crore under capex budget has already been approved for the year 2021-22 for this work. Jugal Kishore Sharma also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the initiatives of JMC towards executing such type of projects which are beneficial for the general public.
