Encounter b/w militants-SF stops, arms recovered, searches continue | | | earLY tIMES rEPORT
Srinagar, Sept 18: An encounter which broke out between militants and security forces in the outskirts of Srinagar city on Saturday afternoon has stopped. This was the first encounter between militants and security forces in the Kashmir valley during this month. A police spokesman said it seems militants has managed to escape after dropping their weapons. One pistol and one AK 47 rifle has been recovered from the area, he said adding police and CRPF have expanded the cordoned area and searches are going on. Earlier, official sources said Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) following a tip off about the presence of militants at Bagwanpora Noorbagh in Srinagar this afternoon. However, when the security forces were marching towards a particular area, militants opened fire, they said adding security forces also retaliated ensuing in an encounter.
