No ceasefire violation along LoC after fresh agreement between India, Pak armies: GOC 15 Corps

Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Sept 20: There has been no report of any ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC) since Armies of India and Pakistan reached fresh agreement in February this year though infiltration attempts were made by militants to sneak into this side from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK), a top Army officer said on Monday.
Talking to reporters on the sideline of a function here today, General Officer Commanding (GoC) of the Army''s Srinagar-based 15 Corps Lt General D P Pandey said since the fresh agreement between India and Pakistan armies in February this year, there has been no report of any ceasefire violation.
However, he added that some infiltration attempts were made from POK by militants which were foiled by alert troops.
Lt Gen Pandey said that we could see change at LoC as in the past Pak troops were violating ceasefire and providing adequate cover to militants to infiltrate into this side. This time, he said, there were some infiltration attempts but like previous years the support of ceasefire violation by Pak troops was almost zero. However, he said there was hardly any successful attempt of infiltration due to alert troops who are keeping a strict vigil. There have hardly been any successful attempts, he said adding only two militants have succeeded to enter here. One was neutralized in Bandipora in north Kashmir and we are looking for the second one, Lt Gen Pandey. He said troops are fully prepared to meet any challenge of ceasefire violation. We are all set to respond if such thing happens, he said and added frankly speaking thee has been no instigation from across the border.
In reply to a question he said the number of ceasefire violations have not increased. Infact, this year there has been no ceasefire violation at least in the Kashmir Valley.
Lt Gen Pandey said though there has been no instigation from Pakistan, but troops guarding the LoC are in total alert and prepared to respond any ceasefire violation appropriately.
He said Army has launched search operation in border town of Uri near LoC in Baramulla district. The searches in the woods are going on for the past 24 hours as there was an infiltration attempt from POK, he said adding troops are looking for them. However, he said it was not immediately clear whether they have fled back to POK or still in our side,
"I can assure you that troops are quite alert to foil any infiltration attempt", he said. Earlier, the GOC Chinar Corps Lt Gen Pandey felicitated 68 students of the first and second batches of the Army''s Kashmir Super 30 (Medical) course who are now successfully pursuing MBBS and other courses after clearing the NEET. Students of third batch who successfully completed the eleven month course recently thanked Army for providing the chance to study free of cost in super 30.
