NMC demands release of DA installment | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 21: President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri appealed to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to release pending installment of 3% DA due from July this year in favour of Central/ State/UT governments employees and pensioners. "We appeal to the PM to announce and release the pending installment of DA due from this July in view of rising inflation and price hike of essential commodities," NMC President Subash Shastri said today. In a memorandum sent to Prime Minister, NMC described that the Price index which was 8.04% in December last year has increased to 11% in July this year and urged PM to take decision in this regard at forthcoming cabinet meeting . The rate of compensation was revised every six months based on the average of consumer price index for previous months and this would be the 11th biannual increase since the recommendation of 7th pay commission which was accepted by the Central government in 2017. He also urged the Central government to immediately release a special package of Rs 2000 crore for regularization of 61000 daily rated workers working in various departments of UT government. Shastri also hoped that the PM will rescue the UT Government casual and seasonal labourers by releasing the special package for them so that their long pending demand gets fulfilled. Release of pending arrears of 11% DA which was released by the Central government recently and implementation of all Central labour laws in the JKUT were also highlighted in the memorandum. |
