In the ensuing encounter two terrorists were killed and their bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter. They have been identified as Azad Ahmad Shah and Abid Rashid Dar @ Haqani affiliated with proscribed terror outfit LeT. The killed terrorist Abid Rahid Dar was Pakistani trained terrorist who had crossed over the Wagah Border in April 2018 and had infiltrated back in the year 2019.
As per police records, both the terrorists were involved in planning and executing terror attacks on security establishments and civilian killings.
Moreover, terrorist Abid Rashid Dar was instrumental in recruiting the gullible youth into terror ranks of proscribed terror outfit LeT in North Kashmir.
Pertinently both the killed terrorists along with foreign terrorists Usman and Sajad @ Haider were involved in the killing of BJP leader Waseem Bari, his brother and father.
The involved foreign terrorists Usman and Sajad were already eliminated in an encounter at Kreeri on 17/08/2020, while as the other two local involved terrorists got killed in today’s encounter.
Therefore all the four terrorists involved in case FIR No 74/2019 of PS Bandipora pertaining to the killing of BJP leader and his family got eliminated.
Incriminating materials, arms & ammunition including 02 AK-47 rifles 01 pistol and other incriminating material were recovered from the site of encounter.
All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other terror crimes.
IGP Kashmir appreciates JKP and SFs for conducting a successful operation without any collateral damage.
In this connection a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation has been initiated.
People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosive materials, if any, said statement.
Meanwhile it is learnt from sources that, three army soldiers were injured when the alert troops foiled an infiltration bid by terrorists from across the line of control (LoC) in Uri sector, sources said.
Defence sources said alert troops challenged heavy armed terrorists who were trying to infiltrate in Uri sector on Saturday evening.
"An encounter ensued between the infiltrating terrorists and the army in which 3 soldiers were injured. The operation is still going on in the area," sources said.
Three soldiers injured belong to 12 Jat regiment. They have been shifted to hospital, however if sources are to be believed they said that, one militant has been also killed in the wee hours of Infiltration bid in Uri area, further it was not immediately known from police officials about the killing down of a militant, while the searches are in progress.
Earlier on September 18, another major infiltration bid was foiled by the army in the same sector when a group of terrorists were forced to withdraw back after they were engaged in a sustained gunfight.
