Early Times Report

Samba, Sept 29: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) appealed to Lt. Governor, Manoj K. Sinha to extend the disbursement period of Prime Minister’s Ex-gratia Relief Package of Rs 5.5 Lakhs to each DPs family from POK and other categories upto ending March 2022. Taking in account the delay caused due to spread of Ist and IInd wave of Corona Virus and also other genuine reasons. It is also demanded that supplementary records of the left-out bonafide DPs families available with the Govt./PRO office be considered in the mandatory list to allow them to avail the benefits of financial assistance under PMDP-2015.
Addressing the meeting of DPs held at Ramgarh Samba, Gurdev Singh. President alongwith prominent leaders Dwarka Nath Khajuria, Bagwan Singh, Capt. Puran Singh and Joginder Lal said that DPs are grateful to PM Narendra Modi for providing them an ex-gratia relief grant of Rs 5.5 Lakhs per family for the first time since their forcible migration from POK in 1947 holocaust. He said that this relief package in no way matched with the loss of lives and properties the DPs has suffered, yet it gave some respite to many fold increased DPs families. This relief package has established the legitimacy of the DP’s basic demand concerning their final settlement pending redressal for the past several decades. He said that registration/compensation claim of their left-out properties and other allied issues has not been considered by GOI for the reason being, that acceptance of their registration/claims would be inconsistent to the constitutional stand taken by Indian govt. over POK which is a legal part of India.
