Mission Youth: Maiden meet of District Level Task Force Committee held in Poonch

POONCH, Sept 29: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Inder Jeet today chaired maiden meeting of the District Level Task Force constituted for the effective implementation of Mission Youth in the district.
At the outset, ADDC Poonch, Abdul Sattar gave a detailed powerpoint presentation about the activities and district specific intervention proposed through Mission Youth.
He informed that 229 Panchayat level clubs have already been constituted in the district of which 216 have been established in schools while the rest have been made functional in Panchayats.
"200 youth clubs already have existing playfields, 04 playfields are under construction which are likely to be completed by the end of the March next year while rest of the 25 playfields have been proposed for development under supplementary MGNREGA plan", he informed.
He said district Administration is conducting activities like sports tournaments regularly to channelize the energy of the youth in a positive direction.
Dr Abdul Khabir, Officer on Special Duty, Mission Youth, apprised that the Mission envisages to provide effective support and encouragement to the youth between 15-35 years, addressing their needs and problems and finding out viable solutions, shaping their future as per their desires and aspirations and making them assets in nation-building projects etc.
He also highlighted the wide ranging activities envisaged under the Mission including promotion of self-employment through schemes like Tejaswini, MUMKIN, development of Tourist Village network, generating sector-specific employment, Skill Development, SAHYTA, AVSAR, PAARVAZ, besides eradication of drug abuse through De-addiction and de-radicalization, promoting green youth alliance, the constitution of youth clubs, holding talent hunts, the establishment of District youth centres, special initiatives for youth with disabilities, Universities collaboration initiatives JK Super-75( boys and girls), young innovators programs for holistic and pragmatic youth engagement and empowerment on sustainable lines.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the need of the hour is to strengthen young people's abilities to enable them to meet their subsistence needs. "There is a need to provide them platforms where they can showcase their skills and Mission Youth has brought a ray of hope", he added.
He also highlighted several activities being carried out in the district under Mission Youth.
