NSS volunteers Nancy, Pallavi, Sunandini, Shaku, Shifali, Aman, Shabana, Anchal, Shriya, Nihar made posters on Nonviolence: The Path of Ahimsa. Mahatma Gandhi the father of nation, the tallest leader of India's independence movement was a pioneer of the philosophy of ahimsa (non-violence). The famous Sanskrit phrase 'Ahimsa Paramo Dharma' was also popularised by Mahatma Gandhi, which loosely translates to 'non-violence is the highest moral virtue'. NSS aims to spread awareness about the philosophy and strategy of non-violence through education and public awareness. It was Gandhi ji's firm belief that only a non-violent movement can achieve the highest objective of freedom. Ahimsa implies total nonviolence, no physical violence, and no passive violence. Gandhi ji translated Ahimsa as love. Non-violence is a weapon of the strong. Non-violence and truth are inseparable and presuppose one another. We may never be strong enough to be entirely nonviolent in thought, word and deed. |
