SF conducts frisking in Srinagar, strike by shopkeepers against Bindroo killing | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Oct 6: Security forces on Wednesday conducted frisking and searches in many parts of the Srinagar city, where a famous chemist M L Bindroo was shot dead by terrorists at Iqbal Park when he was in his shop last evening. Two more persons, including a non local, were also killed by terrorists in the down town Srinagar and Bandipora last evening. Meanwhile, all shops and business establishments remained closed at Iqbal Park and nearby market to express solidarity with the Bindroo family. We closed our shops in solidarity with the family of deceased, the shopkeepers said. Security forces and police conducted random searches of vehicles and frisking of pedestrians in Srinagar today. Security forces randomly cordoned off some areas , including Batmaloo and civil lines, and searched vehicles. Pedestrian and those travelling in the vehicles were being frisked and their identity cards checked properly before allowing them to go. Though there is no specific information about any militant movement, but security forces have been directed to conduct random searches and frisking in Srinagar, official sources said. They said however, no one has so far been detained. |
