Andheri Gali: Jammu’s heritage in dire straits
It seems authorities are waiting for some mishap to occur, say residents

Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 8: The pathetic plight of Andheri Gali which connects Mubarak Mandi with Gadhadhar temple and other areas mocks the development claim of the government.
Residents of the area said, “We have never seen any repairs taking place. There is an old heritage temple atop the Andheri Gali. The walls of the lane and the structure have developed cracks as the water has been seeping into these walls.”
They said, “The structure is standing due to the electric walls holding it. The day these wires give up the entire structure will fall.
It seems that the government is waiting for some mishap to happen. Many people cross this Andheri Gali daily. If the government fails to repair the structure it can cave in anytime and can lead to an accident.”
They said that this lane is a part of Jammu’s heritage but it has been ignored completely.
“We need to tell the people who cross this lane that the water which falls on them while crossing it is not clean.”
They said that the deputy mayor of Jammu belongs to the same area and this issue has been brought into her notice on many occasions but she too has not been able to do much. “Jammu’s heritage is in tatters and the authorities seem least interested in preserving it,” the residents added.
