SF conducts intense frisking of pedestrians and used sniffer dogs service in Srinagar

Srinagar, Oct 9: Security arrangements have been beefed up with additional force men deployed at vulnerable spots while force men conducted frisking of pedestrians and checked vehicles, mostly pillion riders used the service of sniffer dogs in Srinagar on Saturday. The alertness of the forces men and frisking operations were intensified following the recent civilian killings that spread a reign of terror in the valley particularly in Srinagar city. Security forces frisked all pedestrians at business hub Lal Chowk capital city of Srinagar and searched a couple of places here. They also checked motorcyclists, and small vehicles used the service of sniffer dogs for possible arms smuggling. Searches were also conducted at Karan Nagar chowk , Budshah Chowk and other places of the Srinagar city. Security has been beefed up in the vicinity of Srinagar, especially in sensitive spots in view of the recent civilian casualties in the city where the network of Naka’s has also further been expended. The security personnel have been deployed in strength at sensitive places and have been kept more vigilant, an official said.
A UNI correspondent after visiting various areas of the city saw security forces deployed in strength and naka’s tightened in various parts of Srinagar.
He said some places security forces conducted searches of the scooter riders and searched their bags and stood them against the wall and checked their bodies with metal detector machines.
The security forces are also on high alert as the recent civilian casualties in the Valley, especially in Srinagar, have spread fear and terror among the people.
