Early Times Report

Kalakote, Oct 13: As an extension to the on-going campaign for “Swachhata Abhiyan” (as initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi) the NSS unit of GDC Kalakote in collaboration with EBSB under the Guidance of Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of GDC Kalakote, conducted cleanliness drive in the college campus in commemoration to “Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav”. Speaking on the event Dr. Romesh Gupta, Principal of the college, throws the light on the importance of the cleanliness which refers to the art of keeping our body, mind, house, work area and our surroundings clean. We must realize that keeping our surroundings and environment clean is as important as keeping our home clean. It is the responsibility of every individual to keep the public places clean. One important way to keep the public places clean is to stop littering roads and streets. People should be educated not to spit and urinate in public.
Principal believes that such drives are the wonderful opportunity for people’s participation and they are major avenues to raise awareness on the importance of cleanliness in one’s neighbourhood and everyone has to work with determination. Cleanliness drive should continue till the mind-set of people is adapted to the habit of keeping the area clean. Students being the foundation stone of a society need to be educated about the importance of clean surroundings.
