Webinar on Gandhian Philosophy & Ecology organized at Govt. SPMR College

JAMMU, Oct 13: A webinar on “Gandhian Philosophy and Ecology” was organized by Government SPMR College of Commerce Jammu in collaboration with ECO Club under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The programme began under the guidance of Prof. Ranjeet Singh Jamwal, Principal of the College.
The webinar began with introduction and welcome address by Prof. Deepshikha Sharma convener, (cultural & literary committee). Dr. Deepika Slathia (Department of Environmental Sciences, University of Jammu) was the resource person for the webinar. Speaking on the occasion, she gave a detailed concept of ecology followed by a detailed understanding how the Gandhian principles support the environmental cause.
She also talked about how Gandhi always emphasized on the importance of conservation of natural resources. She also explained as how the various tenets like non-violence, non-possession of wealth etc can help dealing with the current environmental crisis.
Gandhian idea of “live and let live” supports the environmental ethics of biocentrism. All the queries of the participants were addressed by the speaker.
Prof Archana Koul, HOD English also spoke on the occasion. The proceedings of the webinar were coordinated by Prof. Deepshikha Sharma, Dr. Deepak Pathania, Prof. Rajni Bala, Prof. Harpreet Kaur, Dr. Anu Sharma.The programme was attended by committee members, students from different colleges, and faculty members. The webinar concluded with the formal vote of thanks by Dr. Deepak Pathania.
