PNBMT delegation meets Lt Governor
10/14/2021 10:47:18 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 14: A five member delegation of Pt Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust comprising of Shiban Khaibri Chairman, Dr R L Bhat chief spokes person, H L Bhat, Sanjay Pandit Executive members and Sundri Lal Koul secretary met with the Lieutenant Governor.
The audience was kindly granted by the Lt Governor which was of half an hour's duration utilized to the best possible capacity of the delegation to share with him the hounded out Kashmiri Pandit community's concerns in respect of the present status and condition of our temples and Shrines across Kashmir Valley. On account of the continuous terror attacks on Hindus in Kashmir and the resultant fear syndrome engulfing the community thus making vulnerability of our religious , historic and cultural symbols more sensitive and thus encroachments and other types of violations not ruled out needed a serious resolution.
The Lt Governor was straightaway requested to analyse the issue of providing a statutory protection to our temples and Shrines in the light of Auqaf Act and Gurudwara Prabhandan Act .
He was told about the statements given on the floor of the Assembly by the ( then state) governments in 2010 and 2012 about the number of temples demolished , encroached upon and desecrated leaving no room for any conjectures as to what fate shall there be of numerous temples which therefore calls for no patch working, painting or repairing of a few temples symbolically but by giving legislative protection by passing the pending Shrines and Temples Bill or promulgation of an ordinance as the Assembly is in suspended animation.
He was acquainted with the historic roots of 5300 years of KPs in Kashmir and many temples being there much before the said period.
These temples belonged to KPs irrespective of a few of them just for maintenance had management of Dharmarath Trust.
He was given a memorandum; a copy of the Temples Bill and a copy of the list of temples in the form of a book.
