Kisan Sabha executive committee expresses concern over losses due to hailstorm, rains, snow

JAMMU, Oct 24: Kisan Sabha executive committee in a meeting has expressed grave concern over the devastation of Kharif crops in Jammu Province as well as in Kashmir due to heavy hailstorm accompanied with rain.
Reviewing the situation, the Kisan Sabha has observed that it was first time when such devastating storm gripped both the provinces and destroyed ripen paddy, other kharif crops, vegetables, animal fodder and fruit which is the main stay of the farming community.
The Sabha has said that the farmers have suffered unprecedented losses.
Presided over by Kisan Sabha president Hari Chand Jalmeria Advocate, the Kisan Sabha executive committee asked the government to compensate the farmers for the losses suffered by them due to the natural calamity.
The participants apprised about the devastating impact of the hailstorm and rains upon the ripen crops, fruit, vegetables and animal fodder which has completely broken the back of farmers community.
The participants apprised the meeting that the paddy crops were in the process of reaping, the pulses crops of Mash, Moongi, Kulth etc., the sown oil crop of mustard, the vegetables of various types, the animal fodder, ripened fruit of kinds are completely destroyed by unexpected heavy rains and hailstorm.
