JAMMU, Nov 3: Govt Ayurvedic Medical College (GAMC) Akhnoor celebrated National Ayurveda Day. The practice to observe the Ayurveda Day was started by the Govt. of India, Ministry of AYUSH since 2016 on the day of Dhanwanthari Jayanti. The Ayurveda Day is being celebrated to raise the awareness of Ayurvedic principles of healings among general public and to nationalize this system of medicine. This year the theme of Ayurveda Day is Ayurveda for Poshan. Dr Shashi Sudan Sharma, Principal GAMC Akhnoor, enlightened the auspicious lamp and performed havan to offer prayers to Lord Dhanwantari and spoke about the importance of Dhanwantari Divas and Ayurveda in our day to day life. She told that Lord Dhanvantari is an Avatar of Lord Vishnu and he appears as the physician of the Gods and the God of Ayurvedic medicine too. On this day, Lord Dhanwantari emerged with Amurutha Kalasam. Ayurveda is not a mere healthcare system but also a holistic approach towards life itself. It represents the symbiotic relationship between humans and nature. |
