50th anniversary of Bangladesh victory celebrations held at Paloura | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 8: 50th anniversary of Bangladesh victory celebrations was held at Paloura Jammu rural by Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress in collaboration with Bangladesh liberation war commemoration committee. The programme was organized by DCC Jammu rural to pay homage to the war heroes and remember the leadership of Indira Gandhi. AICC Convener Bangladesh Liberation War Commemoration Committee Captain Praveen Davar was the chief guest while as JKPCC chief G A Mir presided over it. Senior Congress leaders Mula Ram, Raman Bhalla, Ashok Sharma, Ved Mahajan and others took part in the programme. The function was also attended by war veterans of 1971. Addressing the gathering Captain Davar recalled the sequence of events of the war and remembered the 'strong' leadership of Indira Gandhi. He said that Gandhi took the bold decision of liberating Bangladesh against the threats of pressures of US and China and the brave Indian armed forces divided Pakistan in 13 days and created an independent country as Bangladesh and over 90,000 Pak forces surrendered. He paid homage to over 4,000 jawans and over 10,000 jawans injured in the war. He questioned the present leadership of the country who are unable to defend the territorial integrity of our country in the wake of China's intrusion into our territory and continuous misadventures of China along our borders. JKPCC President G A Mir in his presidential address paid homage to the war heroes and lauded the forces and the leadership of Gandhi. He questioned the present leadership who have failed to stop the aggressive posturing and intrusions of China into our territory and said only Congress can provide a strong and determined leadership to the country which is need of the hour.
