Azad set to make a comeback, hosts Diwali Milan function in Jammu | | | Early Times Report jammu, Nov 8: Although he intentionally avoided any political discussion during the Diwali Milan event, former leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad has started the process to retrieve lost ground in Jammu province. Today's Diwali Milan event is a move on behalf of the supporters of Azad to start interaction with the people of the Jammu region. Wishing anonymity a loyalist of Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the former chief minister has decided to become active in J&K politics. "From the day one after his retirement as leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Azad has shifted his focus on J&K", a source said, adding, "Azad is already in touch with the potential leaders of other parties to lure them to join Congress before assembly elections". "Diwali Milan function was organized today to start interactions with people from different sections of the society before assembly elections", sources said and Azad is already given hints to his supporters that he is going to become active in J&K politics. Interestingly, in the Diwali Milan function, Congress leaders, who belong to G A Mir camp, were conspicuously absent. While addressing the gathering, Azad said that due to COVID interactions with people were stopped. "Social distancing has created wedge among relations. There were no interactions with people", he said and added that today's functioning was a good beginning after Coronavirus. "In a short notice people were invited for the function. It is really nice to see that people from different fields are present in the event", he said but tried to give an impression that it was purely a non-political function. "No political question please", Azad told media persons and avoided speaking on any political issue. |
