Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 9: Everester Sandeep Singh of Tawi Trekkers J&K, who is the lone sports person of Jammu to be selected for the J&K Government Award for Outstanding Sports Persons for the year 2021, has decided to donate 50% of the cash award of Rs 51000 to Tawi Trekkers J&K as and when he receives it from the Government. He conveyed his decision to the General Secretary of the Club Shawetica Khajuria, today. Interacting with Shawetica Khajuria he disclosed that he has been greatly inspired by Everester Col Ranveer Singh Jamwal who has presented all the Award money of Rs 51000 to Tawi Trekkers J&K, Jammu for the promotion of mountaineering among the budding mountaineers. He said that he was pleasantly surprised and impressed when ace sport climber Shivani Charak, though a student, also announced to donate 50% of her award money to the club. Sandeep Singh, however, requested that his small contribution may be utilized by the club preferably for the promotion of short treks for the budding trekkers. It is pertinent to mention here that 33 years old Sandeep Singh, a Physical Training Instructor in Indian Navy, after successfully completing his Basic and Advance Mountaineering Courses from Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi, scaled Satopant, a formidable peak at a height of 7075 m in a pre Everest expedition in 2016 and summitted Everest on 27th May, 2017. Sandeep Singh is a trained diver also who is qualified to go under water upto a depth of 35 meters. Meanwhile, members of Tawi Trekkers J&K led by its Patrons Ashwani Sharma, former MLA and Rahul Sharma, Chairman, Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, Jammu; Advisor Prof Lalit Magotra, President Dogri Sanstha, Jammu; Co-Chairman Zorawar Singh Jamwal, President Ram Khajuria, Legal Advisor Prem Sadotra, Vice President Mridhu Padha, Vice Principal, St. Xavier Sr. Secondary School, Jammu and senior members Sumit Khajuria and Vivek Chauhan, Principal, Oriental Academy Senior Secondary School, Jammu have expressed their gratitude to the distinguished mountaineer for his kind gesture of donating award money to the Association. |
