Awareness-cum-training programme conducted on PMMSY | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 14: A day long awareness-cum-training programme on Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) was successfully organized by NCDC, Laxmanrao Inamdar National Academy for Cooperative Research and Development (LINAC) Regional Training Center, Chandigarh at Kisan Kendera, Talab tillo Jammu. The training was e-Inaugurated by the LG, J&K UT, Manoj Sinha to mark the beginning of Cooperative Week. The objective of this program is to promote and promulgate the awareness of fish farming among the people of Jammu & Kashmir. NCDC is an implementing agency of this scheme which will form Fisheries Farmers Producers Organization (FFPOs) under PMMSY scheme. Regional Director NCDC Lt Col Ashish Mohan Agarwal informed that, Pradhanmantri Matsya Sampada Yojna (PMMSY) is a flagship scheme of Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairy, Government of India which has been launched under the Atmnirbhar Bharat Package. National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) has assisted more than one lakh Cooperatives of the country with a quantum of Rs 1.82 lakh crore till date and thousands of Cooperative personnel has been trained through its training institute and regional centers. Director Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare, Jammu, KK Sharma in his key note address said that Fish production is the part of integrated farming and JK UT has huge potential for development of fishery sector, therefore all the stakeholders should take more and more benefits under the PMMSY scheme. Joint Director Fisheries, Jammu, Dr Manzoor Wani talked about status of fisheries in J&K and sensitized the participants regarding various schemes of Fisheries department for the welfare of Fish Farmers. Assistant Director NCDC, Vivek K Tripathi reflected in detail about the aims and objectives and funding structure under the PMMSY. |
