Anti-encroachment drive conducted in Reasi, 11 arrested

REASI, Nov 14: In an anti-encroachment drive, MD Housing Board J&K along with other officers reached Kattal Gran Morh Reasi for giving possession of plots to the genuine allottees. Pre-empting Law and order problem by the unlawful encroachers, Reasi Police deployed troops with the team of officers of J&K Housing Board.
Before handing over the possession of plots started, leveling of the land was initiated by dozer machines. On this more than 100 local people crowded on the spot and started agitating against Housing Board employees while claiming the piece of land. Police present on the spot didn’t allow the agitators to interfere in working of J&K Housing Board employees.
After sometime unruly mob resorted to stone pelting on the government employees on duty.
Three vehicles including one JCB was damaged. On this team of Reasi police swung into action. 11 miscreants were rounded up to maintain law and order. Work continued till late evening at the site in the protection of Police contingents. Possession of plots were handed over among the actual owners by J&K Housing department.
Case FIR no 222 is registered in police station Reasi against the accused persons who attacked the government servants. Team of Reasi Police arrested accused persons under relevant sections of law.
The arrested include Kewal Singh S/O Omkar Singh, Karan Singh S/O Ram Singh, Deepak Singh S/O Bachhitar Singh, Sidhant Singh S/O Suram Singh, Vakeel Singh S/O Ram Singh, Raj Singh S/O Krishan Singh, Raghubir Singh S/O Ram Singh, Ashok Singh S/O Ram Singh (Nambardar) Vimla Devi W/O Karan Singh, Darshana Devi W/O Kishore Singh and Reeta W/O Raghubir Singh all resident of Kattal Gran Morh.
After the episode of law and order in Reasi, Police is in search of other accused persons involved in law and order problem in the area.
Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi, Shailender Singh conveyed that each and every person who was involved in violation of law shall be dealt with law. Everyone has right to protest but through democratic means and no one will be allowed to disturb peaceful environment of Reasi through violent means.
Singh further appealed that people should maintain law and order and adopt lawful means for raising their voice.
