Don’t lower guard against COVID-19, danger still persists: Kavinder | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 14: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta on Sunday asked the people of the UT of J&K to mask up and go out for vaccination as soon as possible claiming that threat of COVID-19 is still looming large as the disease is hanging around. In a statement issued here, he said that don’t lower guard as the evil virus is not over yet and can bounce back any time. Expressing concern over the rise in Covid-19 cases in Ladakh, Kavinder advised people to be careful and watchful and not lower guard as the danger of spiraling of disease is very much there. "The rise in corona cases in Srinagar and Ladakh and closure of schools in the neighbouring UT is worrisome. Time doesn’t allow taking this virus for granted. It can come up unexpectedly. If we have to remain free of this virus, Covid-appropriate behaviour, containment strategy as well as vaccination has to be made a priority”, Kavinder said, adding that LG Manoj Sinha’s assertion on six-fold strategy is significant for containing the contagion effectively. Citing LG Sinha’s advice verbatim, the senior BJP leader said that the need of the time is to adhere to the guidelines without any lethargy. He said that keeping the disease corona off hook should be the priority of all in the UT and for this observing CAB religiously is a must. He advised that in districts where Covid-19 cases are seemingly on the rise, vaccination of eligible individuals should be intensified and prioritized. Sounding a word of caution for Srinagar and its neighbourhood, Kavinder said the summer capital is seeing a rise in positivity rate therefore it is vital to implement SOPs in letter and spirit. He said that vaccination is the key to safety and therefore people should be convinced to take antidote jabs as soon as possible. He said that still there is huge population at risk therefore people should be careful and watchful against the infection which has already wreaked havoc across the country in the preceding years. |
