| Govt Degree College, Chenani organizes seminar | | |

JAMMU, Nov 26: Department of Political Science, Government Degree College, Chenani under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav Cell and IQAC organized one day seminar entitled ‘Philosophy behind the Preamble of Indian Constitution’ on the theme ‘Ideological basis of Indian Constitution’ today.
The event was organized to showcase the constitutional values. The programme began with reading of preamble. Mir Hafeez, Assistant Professor in Political Science was the key resource person in the programme. He reiterated the importance of the preamble as a declaration, a firm resolve, a pledge, an undertaking and that the Ideal embedded in the Preamble to the constitution summarizes the aims and goals of the constitution.
He said that the Preamble is the soul of the constitution. It is the reflection of the core constitutional values that embody the constitution. It declares India to be Sovereign, Socialist and Democratic Republic committed to Justice, liberty, equality and fraternity for the people.
Dr. Pragya Khanna, Principal of the College was the chief guest in the event. In her inaugural speech she stated constitution of India is a social document and it lays down the framework for the political code, structure, procedure, powers, and the duties of the government bodies and provides the fundamental rights, core principles, and duties of the citizens towards the country. She said India constitution was designed to break the shackles of traditional social hierarchies and to usher in a new era of freedom, equality and justice. |
