Two drug peddlers arrested, Contraband recovered in Kashmir | | | EARly Times report
Srinagar, Nov 28: Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers in separate incidents and recovered a huge quantity of drugs from their possession in south Kashmir district of Anantnag. Police said acting on specific information that three persons with a consignment of drugs are going to sell in the Sangam Roadway Transport Company near Sangam in Bijbehara. A police team was constituted who carried out the search at the suspected place and recovered 70 Kgs of poppy straw from one Bashir Ahmad Reshi a resident of Batpora Naina. The accused was arrested, however, two of his accomplices identified as Sajad Ahmad Bhat a resident of Waghama and Abdul Hameed Mir of Natipora Sangam managed to escape. A manhunt has been launched to nab the two drug peddlers, the police said. Further investigation in the instant case is continuing, the police added. Meanwhile, Anantnag Police established a naka at Mehandi Kadal and arrested one drug peddler identified as Naseer Ahmad Khan a resident of Haapatnar along with 2.7 Kgs Charas. The accused was arrested and a case was registered against him and investigation taken up, Police added.
