Srinagar, Nov 30: The Covid-19 positivity rate in Kashmir has gone down, fresh government data has revealed. According to the figures released by Divisional Covid-19 Control Room Kashmir, the total positivity rate for the week of November 21-27 in Kashmir district was recorded at 0.48 per cent. The positivity rate for the week earlier from November 14 to 20 had gone up at 0.58 per cent. From November 7 to 13, the positivity rate in Kashmir was 0.54 per cent. It further said that during the last week (November 21-27), Srinagar district recorded the highest positivity rate in Kashmir at 1.52 per cent, followed by Baramulla at 1.07 per cent, Ganderbal at 0.45 per cent, Budgam, 0.43 per cent, Kupwara, 0.38 per cent, Bandipora 0.30 per cent, Kulgam 0.09 per cent, Anantnag 0.07 per cent, Pulwama 0.07 per cent, and Shopian 0.00 per cent, said a statement issued by the Jammu and Kashmir government. Except Budgam in central Kashmir and Kulgam in south Kashmir, almost all other districts witnessed decline in Covid-19 positivity rate. Anantnag district recorded the same positivity rate of 0.07 per cent in the last two weeks. According to the data, the positivity rate for the earlier week November 14 to 20, was 1.74 per cent for Srinagar, Baramulla 1.31 per cent, Anantnag 0.07 per cent, Bandipora 0.42 per cent, Budgam 0.27 per cent, Ganderbal 0.75 per cent, Kulgam 0.03 per cent, Kupwara 0.63 per cent, Pulwama 0.19 per cent and Shopian zero per cent. Kashmir had recently witnessed an upsurge in the number of positive cases during the last two months. On Monday, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta had chaired a meeting of Covid-19 task force to review the public health response to COVID-19. An official statement said that he asked the divisional and district administrations to ensure universal testing of all foreign travelers to Jammu and Kashmir in light of the emergence of the new Covid variant Omicron. The Chief Secretary had also underscored the need to adhere to the laid down guidelines and test all the incoming foreign travelers through international flights. “As per the guidelines, the negative travellers will be sent for home quarantine of seven days and re-tested on the eighth day, whereas the Covid-19 positive patients will be sent to institutional quarantine centers for 15 days and their samples will be sent for genome sequencing at ICMR-designated testing laboratories,” the statement added. |
