Kashmir, Ladakh; gripped in freezing cold; Srinagar, Pahalgam coldest places | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Dec 1: Kashmir Valley and Ladakh region are in a grip of freezing cold conditions as Sringar and pahalgam experience coldest night of the season with dry weather continue prevailing in the two Union Territories. The famous Ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir, although showing an improvement in the night temperature, was recorded at minus 1.6 degree Celsius against the minus 1.7 degree Celsius a day ago. However, freezing cold conditions were covered with a thick fog, making the movement of tourists staying there difficult. Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway was recorded at minus 3.3 degree Celsius against the minus 1.4 degrees showing a further dip of two degree while Kokernag recorded at minus 1.8 degree Celsius against the minus 0.9 degrees also dip of a degree in the night temperature against the previous day. In frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara, the minimum temperature further plunged to minus 3.5 degree Celsius against the minus 2.4 degree Celsius the previous day, the MeT office said. |
