Jammu prodigy Onkar develops orbital satellite | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 5: Adding another feather to his cap, 15 years old Onkar Singh Batra, the recipient of Rashtriya Bal Puraskar is now on the path to reach the stars. Recently he has initiated a project to develop India’s First Open-Source Satellite namely–‘InQube’. InQube, which is a 1U CubeSat, is being developed under the banner of Paradox Sonic Space Research Agency, a non-profit research organization founded by him. Onkar is a 15 years old student who was recently conferred with the Rashtriya Bal Puraskar from President of India for his accolades in theoretical science and web development. He holds five world records, including a one for being the World’s Youngest Web Developer at the age of seven. His interest in science and technology made him initiate an extraterrestrial project at such a young age of fifteen. Meanwhile the development of InQube, he has developed another small satellite simulator – ‘DemoSat-V1’. DemoSat is a one unit cube satellite simulator which is meant for classroom projects and can basically do everything that a normal satellite does. It measures 10x10x10cm and weighs less than 1kg. It is equipped with a weather measurement system, a camera, an on-board computer and a camera which makes it more amazing. He says that this satellite can be used for giving demonstrations in schools and universities. ‘InQube, the orbital satellite is planned to be launched in 2022 onboard ISRO’s PSLV, I’m in continuous contact with the Department of Space through Dr. Jitendra Singh for processing launch and other facilitation activities’, says Onkar. |
