Early Times Report

JAMMU, Dec 5: Taking strong note of lackadaisical approach and half hearted response towards the elected representatives including PRIs and DDCs, DDC Chairperson Kishtwar warned that she along with other elected representatives will hit the roads in case the officials didn’t give due response to the sufferings of people approaching them at various quarters. Addressing a press conference in Kishtwar, DDC Chairperson Pooja Thakur expressed her grave concern and displeasure with the district administration for justifiably not hearing and redressing the genuine issues of elected representatives including Panches, Sarpanches, BDC’s and DDC’s members. She said that for the first time in Jammu & Kashmir government implemented three tier structure of Panchayati Raj Institutes with an objective to empower the rural poor to have say in the development process. Let the benefits of all government schemes percolate at grass root level with active people participation. She said that but it’s very purpose gets defeated when the officers/officials of the administration take the PRIs casually and treat them in most irresponsible and unbecoming manner as most of the officers seem to work at their own sweet will and highhandedness with non participatory approach while taking any crucial decision which requires to be consultation and coordination with PRIs. Pooja expressed her deep anguish while stating that the administration of Kishtwar district is flouting the Panchayati Raj Act and rules with impunity. Chairperson remarked that the people have given them mandate with the fervent hope that we might serve them in better way, but here the district administration has kept its bullying pressure so much that if any officer is asked for information regarding any work or public matter, the concerned officer term it as interfering in his/her domain and feel insecure in sharing all the details of ongoing works. The DDC Chairperson demanded LG administration that stern action must be taken against delinquent officers so that justice could be done to the people. The Chairperson expressed her concern over the unbridled approach of DFO Marwah in discharge of his duties who instead of hearing the genuine grievances of poor people is awestruck with his chair and didn’t allow the poor people to enter his office for their grievances.
