International Volunteering day celebrated in Leh

Leh, Dec 6: International Volunteering day was celebrated in Leh on the theme ‘Giving Back to society through Volunteering ‘ International Volunteer Day seeks to raise awareness about the contributions of volunteers. This day recognizes and celebrates the efforts of organizations and volunteers toward their communities.
It encourages volunteering and aims to improve communication between the U.N, governments, and volunteer-involved organizations. International Volunteer Day was established in 1985 by the U.N General Assembly. It is observed annually on December 5th.In the same context and appreciating the efforts of volunteers the Day was celebrated in Leh. The programme was presided over by the Cluster Manager of Leh.
Principal and teachers of Jamyang School, Riglam School, CIBS School, Siddhartha School and BVN School were also present in the programme and were also felicitated for their contribution to NHKP of Magic Bus India Foundation. The International Volunteers Day is celebrated across the globe to recognize and appreciate volunteers for their selfless services for the betterment of humanity.
Cluster Manager of Leh, also congratulated the Local volunteers who have been continuously serving humanity from last many decades irrespective of colour, caste, creed or religion, in Leh. He said there is a need to build the capacity of volunteers so they could be more effective during natural calamities.
Speaking on International Volunteer Day, The Magic Bus Leh Representatives, said, “We believe that our programme has a positive impact on the lives of the people, with our working with local communities at grassroots level, nurturing friendship and developing mutual understanding with them. Our vision for India is in alignment with the Government’s program to build self-reliant communities. Our Youth Mentors have been working with the people in India to support their efforts in being self-dependent and self-reliant by developing their skills and knowledge. “On International Volunteer Day, we stand in respect of more than a billion Volunteers who build resilient communities around the world. As we recognize the collective efforts of volunteers globally, we reflect on the multitude of actions taken locally to help people, communities and neighborhoods’ become better prepared to respond to the unexpected, and better positioned for a more sustainable future”.
