Killing of cops to ‘shift focus’ from public love for Gen Rawat!
12/12/2021 11:38:18 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 12: Even as two policemen were killed in Bandipora on December 10, the attack was carried out to “shift focus” from public love in Kashmir for Chief of the Defense Staff, General Bipin Rawat.
Sources said the police have inputs that the attack was carried out by Pakistani militant, who had instructions from his handlers across the border to carry out the attack at the given point of time.
The government forces have inputs that Pakistani handlers chose timing of the attack only to shift focus from the public affection for General Bipin Rawat on his demise, a development which had put the enemy country to embarrassment.
It’s pertinent to mention that for three days till General Rawat’s mortal remains were cremated, people of Kashmir held numerous condolence meetings to pay glowing tributes to the departed soul and others who lost lives in the helicopter crash on December 8.
While one of the mega events was held in the heart of the summer capital at historic Lal Chowk where candle light vigil was held in remembrance, people in far off places held prayers meetings. Processions were also carried out to mourn the tragedy in areas like Gurez.
On December 10, when the mortal remains of the CDS were being cremated in the national capital, the same time around, two policemen were killed after unidentified militants attacked a police party in Gulshan Chowk of North Kashmir's Bandipora district on Friday afternoon at around 5:00 PM.
The wounded cops were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment in a critical condition. However, both the policemen, identified as Muhammad Sultan and Fayaz Ahmad, succumbed to their injuries. The police have said the attacker was a Pakistani militant active in north Kashmir.
The police have said that the militants were looking for soft targets “to keep the pot of violence boiling in the valley.”
