Unabated cold wave continue to prevail in Kashmir, Ladakh

Srinagar, Dec 13: Unabated cold wave conditions continue to prevail in Kashmir valley and Ladakh Union Territory throwing life out of gear on Monday.
Srinagar temperature again plummeting to minus 3.5 degree Celsius after showing a slight improvement a day ago was recorded as minus 3.0 degree Celsius on Sunday. However, the freezing cold conditions coupled with fog continue to prevail making life miserable for the inhabitants.
The temperature in the ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir has also shown a further dip and was recorded at minus 5.0 against minus 4.2 degree Celsius the previous day. Biting cold conditions prevailed in the valley of meadow, the reports reaching here said.
Tourist resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir showed an improvement of a notch as minus 5.3 against the minus 5.4 degree Celsius recorded the previous day.
Qazigund on Srinagar Jammu national highway recorded at minus 2.8 degree Celius against the minus 3.0 degree Celsius a day ago.
Similarly at Kokernag it was recorded at minus 3.5 degree Celsius against the minus 2.3 degree Celsius 1 degree above the previous day.
The temperature at frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara slipped to minus 4.2 degree Celsius against the minus 3.8 degree Celsius on Sunday.
Drass the second coldest place in the world after Siberia showed a slight improvement and was recorded at minus 16.2 degree Celsius againt minus 17.8 degree Celsius, Leh at minus 13.7 degree Celsius against the minus 12.3 degree Celsius over 1 degree above the previous day and Kargil at minus 6.0 degree Celsius against minus 9.1 degree Celsius an improvement of 3 degrees recorded the previous, the MET office said.
