Azad has bigger plans?

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut in an article has revealed that veteran Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad was offered the post of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Chief.
Raut has stated that none other than Rahul Gandhi had told him about the development but Azad had turned down the offer stating that the Congress is non-existent in Jammu and Kashmir.
Raut is an outspoken leader and many people do trust his words. So what he has written in an article could be true.
The Congress Party in Jammu and Kashmir remained in power for 12 consecutive years. First it shared power with the Peoples Democratic Party from 2002 to 2008 then it joined hands with the National Conference till 2014. Despite remaining in power for 12-years the party failed to retain its bastions. After being ousted from power in 2014, the party failed to act as a strong opposition. Its leaders failed to raise the issues of Jammu, which was considered as a citadel of the party. Its leaders couldn’t become the voice of Jammu people, who since 1947 had reposed faith in the party again and again.
Azad is aware of the fact that his party has lost ground in J&K and it was evident during the District Development Council (DDC) elections that were held last year. In the recent past Azad has become active in J&K politics. He has intensified political activities and is drawing huge crowds towards his rallies. His loyalists have forwarded their resignations to the J&K Congress incharge Rajni Patil and are demanding that Azad should be handed over the reins of the party in J&K. But if he has refused to head the party, according to Raut, it means that he has got some other plans and he may sprung a surprise in coming days.
The delimitation panel—which was formed by the Centre to redraw assembly and parliamentary constituencies in J&K—has almost finalized its report. It means that elections in the newly carved out Union Territory are on cards. Azad returning to J&K politics is an indication that he has got bigger plans. He is a tall leader and can challenge any heavy weight in J&K irrespective of his/her party affiliation. Coming few months are going to be interesting vis-à-vis J&K politics.
