Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 23: A meeting of prominent members of Civil Society including retired Army/Police Personnel and others was held under the chairmanship of Sewa Singh Mankotia (SP Retd).
In the meeting were by deepest gratitude towards the Delimitation Commission for creating six assembly segments in Jammu reign including one in Udhampur District. Jammu region was being discriminated always by the political regimes as well as the mandated leaders and thus doing political injustices to the people of Jammu with lesser assembly segments for last seventy years.
In Udhampur too, lesser development in its hilly terrain indicators and means of communication had been looming issues. More so the area of Udhampur was increased with attachment of Bamahag area of Reasi district. We express our sincerest thanks to Govt of India especially the Delimitation Commission for according the approval to age old demand for creating separate assembly segment for the area of Majalta as it is a fit case because of the Dhar road passing through out Majalta up to Udhampur.
Majalta is geographically cut off from Ramnagar by a high mountain and has an easy and nearer access to Udhampur via Dhar Road and also to Samba and Jammu by Samba Mansar Udhampur State Highway. To put it in a simpler way with passage of time and developing of communication facilities, the cultural linguistic and relationship ties of area of Majalta have slowly withered with Ramnagar that is why and a Munsiff Court and Independent Tehsil have come up at Majalta thereby lessening chances of interaction with Ramnagar.
